Long-term, high intake of vegetable protein from such foods as whole grains, soy and tofu, may protect women from early menopause and could prolong reproductive function, results of a new study from epidemiologists suggest.
As I was going through this article, I cannot emphasize enough on the health benefits of eating whole grains and plant based foods. Soy in particular, has phytoestrogens which mimic estrogen and have been proved to be beneficial to women in various studies.
Soy is the only plant-based protein source that provides the body with all essential amino acids, making it a complete protein. For this reason, soy is an excellent choice for vegetarian and vegan women. Some studies show that soy consumption can help relieve symptoms of menopause due to phytoestrogens. Soy isoflavones can moderately help improve symptoms such as hot flashes and loss of bone mineral density related to menopause.Soy protein powder is often used as an ergogenic aid for athletes, to help improve athletic performance and aid in muscle recovery.Hunger pangs usually strike late in the afternoon and its been documented that a meal/ snack rich in fibre[ whole grains, vegetables, fruit] & protein gives greater satiety and can control hunger effectively.
Thus a snack made of fermented soy- like tofu, tempeh and miso….or soy milk or nutrition bars having soya can help women’s health.Hence soy intake lead to better nutrition status.
