Dark Chocolate

Chocolates are the world’s preferred dessert. Also a flavouring used in many snacks and drinks. Our fascination for them begins in childhood and continues through our life.

The varieties available today are mind boggling. But basically they range from dark chocolate [mostly contain cocoa solids] to white chocolate [mostly contain cocoa butter].

The darker the chocolate, more the flavanols present and healthier it is. To get health benefits from dark chocolate it should be at least 60% dark.

Some of the listed benefits of dark chocolate are they- protect the heart, reduce risk of diabetes, reduce risk of stroke, rich in mineral content, reduces stress and help in weight loss.

Finally, we shouldn’t forget that chocolates are calorie rich, so have in moderation and a small portion size.
